We had booked through Secret Escapes a night at the Adlon. We often spend a night in Berlin at the hotel and wanted to give it a try. Even if 350 for a junior suite with breakfast for Adlon conditions rather cheap, we expected more. That the hotel was getting old, the room card was more bad than good, we had breakfast at times no cutlery and only partially the what we had ordered, are little things that would not have been bad. The most disappointing thing was that our junior suite on the first floor had a "view" like a basement window. The fact that the Adlon assigns such rooms as Junior Suite, I found shocking. Inside it was ok, but due to the location at the lower corner of the courtyard it was just very dark and there was no feel-good atmosphere. Since the staff was really very friendly and competent, it would in a complaint the one or the other point of criticism determined remedial action. Since we only stayed one night, we wanted to spend our time in Berlin but with other things. To be able to enjoy and relax and not have to follow or complain is the reason why you even go to a 5-star hotel.
