Extremely dissspointed to say the least . Some great nurses, social worker was very helpful. The hospital just treated the symptoms for my 80 year old mother, never ruled out the underlying cause of her symptoms . Just did the basics and referred us to a GI. They SHOULD have addressed the GI while in the hospital and should have done a Chest x Ray .
Basic standard of care was minimal

Follow up :
Mother was put in hospital for two days after she collapsed.
History of lung cancer 10 years prior but they never thought to do a chest x Ray . 2 days in hospital not much better but enough to release her
Nurse they sent as follow up only focused on nutrition and liquids. I told her that after a week something was very wrong , no appetite. She responds oh she must be Be depressed .., she needs to see her normal dr and get an anti depressant
I said no , sure she may be sad, but there something medical going on, she needs to see a pulmonary specialist . She stated no, she just needs to see her main dr and address eating better and drinking more water
I took her to pulmonary specialist , demanded a chest x Ray . He is quite shocked to hear that hospital didn t do one . I must be mistaken given Her history so he does one not thinking much will come of it. Come to discover a big mass - stage 4 lung cancer
She died two weeks later
BEWARE and remember to advocate for your loved ones especially the young and old and most precious and most vulnerable
