Hello I am Richard Rodgers and boy do I have a excellent story for you. I am now 69 years old. When I was a young teen of 17, I was enrolled at Atterbury Job Corp. I only stayed about three weeks and I guess I became homesick and wanted to go home. As they wouldn't allow me to leave I went over the fence one evening and hitchhiked about 30 miles to Indianapolis and later made it back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I remembered some of the counseling I received while still there. Long story short, I returned to school and later enlisted in the US Navy. Later after discharge I became involved in Veterans Services where I started as a Veterans Counselor and through the years I was promoted eight times from Supervisor, Manager and Director. I recently retired after 47 years of service. I served the last ten years as Vice-President of Administration with a staff of over 100 and I owe it all to being counseled at Atterbury Job Corps Center as a young 17 year old kid.
