The Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue is quite an amazing sight. Taller than the Statue of Liberty, Wisnu (Hindu protector of the Universe) watches over Bali as he rides his trusted companion, the eagle-like Garuda. The entire landscape of the area is full of religious symbols and statues.

There are many ritual events that take place throughout the day (designed to cater to tourists), the most popular the fire dance at sunset.

The cost of entry was about ten dollars US, quite reasonable for the park.

(Be prepared to put on a sarong if you plan to visit the holy area. They are supplied at the park for both men and women, though menstruating women are asked to stay out of this area.)
