I went to Wallaby's last Saturday night and had quite the experience. They initially told us that it was going to be a 1 hour and 45 minute wait for our group of 11, knowing it was a Saturday night in Ames we accepted. At about 1 hour and 30 minutes into our wait the owner of Wallaby's came to the host/hostess table and started whispering to one of the servers. While eavesdropping he said "you'll have a table of 3 for Dean that come in, put them at the top of the list to seat". A sign of high disrespect to the general public and the many people waiting for over an hour for a table. Once seated, eventually after almost 2 hours they broke our group up into three tables we had very poor service. The waitress visited only twice all dinner. Additionally, one sweet potato fry order was completely forgotten and we had to argue to get it taken off the bill. Overall, a sad realization of the poor ownership of one of my prior favorite restaurants in Ames.
