We used Gowan to replace a leaking backflow preventer, because the landlord would only allow them to do the work. They charged about $900.00 for what should have been no more than $300. We were never given an estimate, and that is on the building manager. On their bill was the drive time to get to our office plus the drive time to go and get the part that they knew in advance was the problem and should have been on the truck. I've replaced backflow preventers at my house, so I know what's involved and what the costs should have been. Thankfully, my new landlord will allow us to pick our own plumber as long as they're bonded, and Gowan is out.
