It's three years since Russell's disabled my system, claiming that my heat exchanger was leaking carbon monoxide into my home. After much arguing the service manager stood his ground, refusing to hook it back up because "federal law requires us to disable an unsafe unit." It's a typical scare tactic, like the mechanic who refuses to return your car if you don't pay for the repairs he recommends, or the preacher who "wants me to send a donation, cuz he's worried about my soul" (that's Charlie Daniels right there!).

The unit is still running fine, and the CO detectors are still quiet. Don't trust Russell's.
