Our pediatrician recommended we have a consult at OMI to see if our twins qualified for cranial helmets due to their plagiocephaly. Some parents scare you when they share how long their babies needed them or how difficult it was, so we were hesitant and nervous to start this journey. We had our initial consult with Dr. Katy and she thoroughly answered all of our questions, eased our worries, and helped encourage us to start sooner than later to catch them in a growth spurt to hopefully only need the helmets full time for a short period. She followed us all the way through our treatment and each appointment was met with a positive and exciting milestone. Sure enough they had a huge growth spurt right away and only needed the helmets 24/7 for three weeks, and overall a total of 3 months. We were fortunate enough that our babies adjusted so smoothly and did not have any trouble sleeping or exercising with them at all. Although we never had to utilize it, the staff offered strong support if ever needed between appointments and if any stress or trouble were to come up. Although we live far away the drives to our appointments were worth it as we were in such good hands with Dr. Katy and the staff. We loved seeing their progress by being provided pictures of their scans and everything was always thoroughly explained to us. We are so thankful we started treatment when we did and that this was a much smoother and more pleasant journey than we could ever have imagined. The last photo is the twin whose plagiocephaly was more severe - the left photo was January at the start of treatment and the right photo was April at the end!
