In June 2025, we engaged Mark Mayne the Master Builder and owner of “Concept, Design, Build” (CDB) to complete a total renovation of a recently purchased 2 storey home in a gated estate in Robina.
The schedule of works was extensive with the main items consisting of:
• Total strip out of - all bathrooms, kitchen, laundry and all floor covering
• Removal of 100% of all lights and power points and install new LED downlights and switches
• Re-modelling of a number of walls, removal of robes, creation of new upstairs layout
• Convert 3 bedrooms into two bedrooms with large WIR and larger bathrooms
• Liase with cabinet maker to ensure new “Japandi”kitchen, laundry and bathroom vanities are installed in a quality manner
• Manage in conjunction with the wooden floor team a blackbutt engineered hardwood dance floor throughout the entire ground floor
• Install floor to ceiling mirrors across two walls in the garage as a quasi-dance studio
• Remove and replace 100% of all internal and two external doors and refit all door furnishings
• Manage the complete re-paint of the internal walls and doors
• Install a fireplace and associated stone heath and “Japandi “look extended floating shelf
One of Marks strong qualities is being able to look at an item and instantly be able to determine if it was not up to the quality that we required. There were a number of instances where Mark managed the supplier / sub-contractors and items such as the new cedar kitchen quad fold window rework and kitchen shelving rework to achieve the quality required.
Our project was started promptly with Marks full team of contractors working well as a holistic and cohesive team, yes, the timeline did fall away but due mainly to timing constraints of the flooring sub-contractors which required no other contractors in the house for 3 weeks. OMG – the floor looks amazing – so well worth the delay.
Mark was able to pinpoint areas that needed upgrades not identified by the architect such as air conditioner renovation in the roof space, new Scylon structural cement sheeting on the bathrooms and lowering by 2 centimetres of the bathroom ceiling to yield a more improved visual result
Marks team have a high opinion of him – they value him as a good leader and a great builder which, in our opinion, is so important to his clients.
Overall Mark and the team at DCB completed a high quality result and he should be very proud of himself in delivering this result
