We had a last minute booking for the Grand National so only the Steeplechase enclosure was available. I've been to many events on the bottom rung and it doesn't necessarily take anything away form the event. On this occasion though, it definitely felt like 3rd class - it was reminiscent of those scenes in the Titanic! I thought I could make up for the appalling lack of facilities by absorbing the atmosphere. But to be honest, it was just full of drunk louts. Although I don't blame most of those people because facilities were none existent. Food and drink was low grade and extortionate. Limited bookies, no shelter whatsoever. And finally, you just get to see a bit of the Grand National, all other races are on the big screen. I ended up leaving early because it really wasn't up to much. That's disappointing given that it was the Grand National! I was comparing this to our Gold Cup which I've done on the cheap also and it was brilliant in comparison. Overall this course or race is probably fantastic if you are in the more expensive enclosures but I still don't think is acceptable what they are offering within the Steeplechase. Unless your planning on getting plastered, it's worth avoiding unless you buy a bigger ticket.
