Over the years, we have often been eating at the Chateau Neercanne and also at the Auberge. It has always been a special experience. Now, a few days ago, we were there for the first time after the fire in the caves and the loss of the Michelin star for lunch. Why this star was lost was incomprehensible to us. The restaurant is decent and tastefully renovated, it has the new, young and obviously very talented chef de cuisine Gilbert of Berg (for his predecessor, by the way, we have nothing but admiration). Of course, the orientation of the kitchen has changed a bit, as might be expected with such a generational change. Rarely have we eaten anywhere, no matter where, so well. The chateau is cooked to the highest standard. Some of the tastes I felt days later and we left the restaurant completely happy. No, it is not the cheapest restaurant in Maastricht, but one of the best and most beautiful. Big compliment to the courteous service, which does everything, that this restaurant visit in the most pleasant memory.
