I graduated BLC today. There are some things that need to be changed there. We came to BLC to learn how to be leaders, to support, and encourage our soldiers. Instead we are seeing some instructors as negative examples. For example, at the Iron Warrior competition that we had last week, I was informed that I did 10 repetitions. The rest of the females did maximum of 7. During the competition, my grader counted every repetition out loud without telling me a single time that I need to do more repetitions because the previous were not correct. All week, up until 2 days before graduation, I was told that I have the highest score and that I am the winner of the Iron Warrior Competition for females. Two days before graduation, my SGL told me that another female won. The excuse was that my grader said that I did not do all the pull-ups correctly. If I am not doing the exercises properly, it should not be counted, or it should be counted as 0. Instead I hear my grader counting my exercises without informing me at any time that I am doing something wrong. It is like you would take a PT test. After PT test the grader tells you that you did 50 push-ups and you passed, but 5 days later he turns around and tells you that you failed because he miscounted. How is it possible? A grader can not go back on his words a week later. I talked to NCOA 1SG about this problem and I even asked him to retest us because I am sure I can get at least the same results. I know what are my strengths and weaknesses when it comes to PT. I asked him as well that I would like him to revise the situation because this is unjust. He denied taking any action or reconsidering the decision made. My classmates and I truly believe that this is unfair. Everybody saw my performance comparing with the other females. If I really did the pull-ups wrong why nobody told me or corrected me on the spot? How will this reflect on the NCOA, my unit , and my future soldiers? I feel like my hard work and dedication was not appreciated .
On the other side, there are few instructors that are dedicated to their job. SSG Meier had a professional appearance and conduct at all time. He was willing to help us and always answered our questions. SSG Edwards is also a good instructor. During study hall, he made sure he helps each student that asked for help. The information given during lessons is relevant for BLC. Every student has the chance to answer the questions or to express his opinion.
