Disappointing.

Disappointing.
My high expectations - given its popularity - were not met.
A lot of the standard rooms and exhibitions are closed and the ones that were open were nothing remarkable, if fairly well-travelled.
No tours are available, but the information provided is very limited and I did not see any option of getting an audio guide. You do hear and read bits and pieces of this place's history, but you don't really get a feel of the scale of its importance. There initially seems to be a lot to see, given the size of the complex, but with the wide spaces and the closures, you can easily complete your visit in less than 2.5 hours.

The good thing is that visiting during these times will involve significantly smaller crowds (only about 20 minutes of queue to visit the Crown Jewels), even though social distancing and anti-covid-19 measures are rarely taken seriously (very few of the staff were wearing masks and there was nobody to encourage/check on the use of masks when inside).
