Last year I had a series of medical events that pushed me into the darkest most difficult place of my entire life. I was in incredible pain, both physically and emotionally with my situation diminishing rapidly. I did not know where to turn to try to stabilize my condition and doctors in my home state of Alaska just kept recommending hospitalizations, medications, and therapy to no end. I met with my family and told them I needed to end my life, I just couldn't take the suffering any longer from my (at the time) undiagnosed medical condition and they started reaching out to places they though could help save me.
Sierra Tucson answered the literal calls for help and within 24 hours had a team of doctors ready to take me in and help figure our what the heck was going on with me. I previous to 2020 had never had issues with mental illness, depression, or anything like the madness I was going through and when I arrived the care and understanding I received was incredible and focused on my own personal, unique, situation. I stayed there for 45 days and they provided an innumerable amount of therapies and evaluations in a caring and non-judgmental fashion that was life changing.
I would, in no uncertain terms, not be alive today if it were not for the people at Sierra Tucson, the services they provided, and the work they did to get me into a research hospital that would eventually help me figure out why my health was failing. I think that no matter what you are suffering from, no matter how long you have been suffering, no matter how hopeless you might feel, if you are reading this now, please just do whatever it takes to get into these peoples hands.
