The incompetence in the payroll department of comm...

The incompetence in the payroll department of community loans is only rivaled by their casual disregard for their employees. And while I hope that their issues are just the result of a single, clearly unqualified manager, I worry that it's a larger cultural issue.
In retrospect, I knew I should have had concerns from the beginning. I was offered a temp to permanent job with two days notice to start and no interview process. The reviews online were almost universally excoriating. But the temp agency assured me that they'd been working with this company for years, so I credited the former to the quality of my resume and the latter to the inherent bad will directed at a loan agency. So with an offer of 40 hours a week that conflicted with my current restaurant service job, I quit and came in to start work.
Unfortunately, it appears that present management has as much disdain for their staff as they do for their customers. From day one of my time in the payroll department, I was given little to no work to do. And while I clearly found that frustrating, I'm certain that CJ the payroll manager's, higher ups would not be pleased to realize that she was hiring temps at $15 an hour to do nothing. Whenever I prompted CJ for more work to do, I was given the excuse that she didn't know what she was doing. After four days of do-nothing work, I was told that I was being let go with no notice. CJ informed me very clearly that she was planning a restructuring of the company, that the chaos of the office happened because she wasn't sure what she was doing, and that I'd be paid in full for the rest of the day due to the short notice. One of these things turned out to be true. I can't speak to the overall quality of CLA's management, but I can say with confidence that CJ should not be in the position she's in, especially considering that she told me as much. That last part is maybe the most shocking. We've all dealt with incompetent management before, but I can at least credit CJ with being self aware.
