This is one of the worst places I have ever been. 8 weeks into treatment here I hurt myself to the point my eyes were swollen shut and I needed help to walk. They told me they were sending me away for medical evaluation, but actually I was sent to another psych facility and not allowed to return. A similar thing happened to someone else I was going through treatment with at Sierra Tucson and she had to buy a same-day ticket back to Alaska, while someone that left, got drunk, and then arrested was allowed to return. It s all about money here. The first 6 weeks I was in their intensive Chrysalis program and there were no skills groups. When I was transferred to residential, skills groups were basic to the point of spending an hour talking about what a boundary is, but no guidance on how to implement them or what healthy boundaries look like. The classes are taught by people either without degrees or certification to save money while it s easily over 30 grand to get treated here. Where does the money go? The eating disorder tract had zero skills groups, just talk process groups and some meetings with a nutritionist and therapist. How does that invoke change? The only reason they re ranked so highly is because they serve better food then you d get at a traditional psych ward and if you got money, they ll pamper you, but if you actually want to get better, this is not the place. I ve since been discharged from the VA, who initially referred me there, unable to return to treatment and with no support. If you want help look elsewhere. I m posting a very candid photo of myself when they transferred me so you can see the reality of what this place drives you too. May you find help and healing elsewhere.
