Unfortunately I did not end up buying a car from Toyota Direct, and not because I didn't try.

I tried to buy a used car, and after two visits, and a test drive, made an offer. It wasn't accepted, but later by phone, I came to an agreement to buy the car. I later received a text that another person was coming in to look at the car and it was first come first served, so I should get there early. I left work early to buy the car, but while in transit was told that someone else was looking at the car. The dealership would not accept a payment even by credit card over the phone so I could buy the vehicle. After I arrived the other couple was looking at the car that I was going to buy and I was told they were now first in line.

To make a long story short, the other people ended up buying the car.

If you are looking for a used car, keep in mind that the dealership will only let you buy the car if you are physically there, and does not care if you are coming long distances and even agreed upon a price. The buying process is totally skewed toward the dealership, and that is their policy. It is strange in this day and age that you can come to agreement on something, but they will still keep their interests in mind over yours. I feel that my presence at the dealership while I waited for the other couple to buy the car actually was in the dealership's interests because the other rep used that to his favor. I still haven't figured out if I was played or not, but I wasted quite a bit of time at this dealership.

The policy of this dealership is that each sales rep basically competes with the other, so until you are physically sitting down signing paperwork, another sales rep can sell the same vehicle out from under you. God forbid if you are driving a long distance to buy a car you already agreed upon. I can only imagine what their customer service is after purchase if that is how they treat you before you buy.
