Having just recently moved to Frederick, it is comforting to know that my new community has such an excellent hospital nearby!
Earlier this evening my mother began having trouble breathing, after having a bad cough/cold the past few days, and needed to go to the ER. The FMH Emergency Department staff were polite and efficient, yet thorough. My mother was checked in by staff immediately, followed by a brief (<10 min) wait in the ED waiting room, then back to a bed to begin receiving treatment within under an hour. An EKG, blood work, IV fluids & steroids, a flu test, chest x-ray, 4 breathing treatments, and antibiotics were all administered in the ED and, if she hadn't needed to be admitted for a night or two, we would've been out of there in 3-4 hours. Considering all of the treatments and procedures performed, that's impressive!
She was admitted, and the excellent care and service continued. Our questions and requests were answered and/or handled immediately. Information and explanations given to us were easy to understand. Each new staff (and we saw no less than 15 throughout the evening) introduced themselves, stated their job title/function, the reason they were there, and explained exactly what they would be doing before doing it.
From custodians, transporters, techs, and nurses, to PAs and Doctors, every single member of the FMH staff I/we encountered throughout the hospital was attentive, polite, helpful, thorough, and kind.
