The Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD) is a Senegalese public company headquartered in Dakar.
Thanks to the strategic position that gives it a sheltered harbor, it is today the third port of the sub-region after the Port of Abidjan and the Port of Lagos and ranks ninth on the continent [1] .

Led by Captain Protet, the French troops took possession of the coast in 1857. Port work began in 1862 and in 1866 it was inaugurated.
