For six months my 13 year old granddaughter was in and out of hospitals, juvenile detention centers, and other places due to extreme anger issues, depression, wanting to attempt suicide.
She would start to do well, but after short periods of time she would revert back to the same behavior(s).
I was worried for the well being and safety of my other granddaughter and myself, and was afraid to have my troubled girl in the same home as us.
New Beginnings was recommended to us, and because she had been in so many places already I was apprehensive, to put it mildly.
But I agreed to give it a try and it was the best decision I have ever made for her.
It started off pretty raggedy. My granddaughter is a master manipulator and from what I gathered, they were having a hard time believing that her behavior was as bad as what I had described.
And the longest she had ever been in one place was 30 days, so she had that timetable down to a science. Eventually those behaviors did manifest themselves. And she fought the help they were offering every step of the way at first.
But they have an amazing therapist, an outstanding program director, and very caring and proactive counselors who never gave up.
She was there longer than most clients, but the change that has occurred is mind boggling.
New Beginnings is in a lovely setting, and they keep the kids busy with therapy and outdoor activities.
I highly, highly, recommend New Beginnings. It was the answer to so many prayers and it totally exceeded my expectations.
