The University of Texas at Austin McDonald Observatory is located just west of the West Texas town of Fort Davis on Texas State Highway 118, within the Davis Mountains. McDonald is a very interesting night observatory with a strong public education and outreach program. The observatory is family friendly and is a good place to learn and experience a little bit of astronomy. Highly recommended, especially for families!
