Super cool place to visit! And when I say super cool I mean like -8 below. I swear I have not been so cold since I built a snow cave and tried to sleep in it as a 13 Y/O boy scout.

Really we hit St. Lewey at as a terrible cold streak froze the mid west like artic Alaska.

We bought tickets online which greatly expedited our boarding the crazy "rocko-o-plane" elevators that take you to the top of the world (at least here). Learning about the construction of the place was amazing. In America we used to do really cool stuff just because we were Americans and proud to be in the greatest county in the world. This is one of those examples. Who needs a giant arch?? We do because it's beautiful to look out from and crazy cool that some dudes and dudettes got together and designed and built this monstrous object.

Don't go to the old courthouse/capitol or whatever to buy tickets. Buy them on line. I spoke with a guard and he said in the summer it's better to buy them a least a week in advance. They never oversell tickets, so if you get them and wait in the line you will get one board the elevator if you are brave enough. The Court House/Capitol is cool to see but the Arch is really where it's at.

The day we went there they only had one metal detector working so the line took about 30 min from the bottom of the arch to the entrance of the building and another 15 or so to get through security. But then the awesomeness sets in. They are in the middle of a remodel at the moment so only one side of the elevators is going up. But they both come down.

We we're on a cross county trip and I gotta say it was totally worth the 3-4 hours the whole experience took.

If it's winter make sure you take warm clothes including ear coverings and gloves. The line isn't too bad and we met people from all over the world.

If you want to stay close the Hilton is right across the street (easy walking distance).

This one is a no brainier unless your scared of heights. Even if you are no one has fallen off yet so enjoy the view!
