RENTER BEWARE!

RENTER BEWARE!
The ONLY upside to living at Bentley Place is the location. You will be situated minutes away from all the things you will need such as Krogers, Tom Thumbs, Trader Joes as well as a movie theatre and children activities. We moved in site unseen because we were coming from out of state. We received pictures of an apartment that had the same blue print as the one we would be moving into before hand so we felt secure with the decision to sign the lease. We called the office to let them know the date in which we would be arriving. As soon as we walked into the apartment we noticed that it had not been cleaned, maintenance left tools on the counter, one of our kitchen cabinets looked as though it had been kicked in, another cabinet was coming off the hinges, the inside of the cabinets were old and disgusting. In addition there was urine in one of our bathrooms on the rim of the bathroom seat. The ceiling fans were DISGUSTING and FILLED with dust, the one in our guest bedroom was so wobbly we were afraid to turn it on. It looked nothing like the photos we had received prior to moving in. We called the front desk and office staff came quickly to discard the trash that was left in our apartment. .A ton of items had to be replaced and fixed just days after moving in . We have lived here for 9 months and have had to have maintenance come 8 times for various reasonsThe bedroom doors also seem to be hollowed and its hard to open and close them The pools were also closed down as soon as we moved in, no notice prior either. When we called to ask about it they said it would be closed for maintenance and for winter although September in Texas is still pretty warm.Their printer was out of ink for weeks before finally getting it refilled or fixed just another inconvenience to add to the list. Update: They eventually opened up the back pool, there were leaves everywhere, wasps, bees, and the pool was so cloudy you couldn t see your feet under the water. There were also other residents there who felt it was ok to have their dog swimming in the water. About a week later they finally opened up the front pool, it was much cleaner than the back pool and over all a much better experience ( so long as you weren t planning on getting in the jacuzzi as they had ply wood over the top with caution tape surrounding it.) Less than a week later the pool was closed down AGAIN, and it has yet to be reopened. Bentley Place claims to be a gated community. We never received a gate key upon moving in and 9 months later we still don t have one. They do have gates but they open automatically, so don t expect to live in a gated community. We had police activity in the community recently (April 2018) with a suspect on foot trying to evade police, apparently he was wanted for a suspected burglary. This happened during the day which was very unsettling. A week or two later we received notice to not leave anything valuable in our cars as there have been reported thefts. Perhaps they should work on getting the gates fixed. This location is on a very safe side of West Plano and these events should not be occurring.
UPDATE: I was not notified of the office having to do resurfacing work on the tub in the unit above us. I was only made aware of this when my self my husband my CHILDREN and my pets began inhaling the strong chemical smell. When i called the office they told me that unfortunately those fumes can be very strong and travel and that they didn t usually notify all the apartments when they were having work done. The problem is i am directly affected being so close to the unit that is being worked on and if they knew that the chemical fumes were strong and traveled they should have known to notify us. They put myself and my family at risk by failing to notify us! I am now in my car with my children and animals sitting in the rain waiting for the fumes to air out. OUTRAGEOUS!!!! I am furious and CAN NOT wait to get out of this lease!
