The paucity of dustbins, toilets (that aren't in the room), and smoking areas is a bit of a downer though.

The lighting system in the room is confusing and not particularly user friendly. The aircon can only be adjusted in 1 degree increments. Both of my roommate's cards would not work after the 2nd day and mine would not work after 12pm on the last day (we had a late checkout).

Reception staff are great and while you may get the occasional initial non-smile greeting, it quickly turns into a smile; while the the rest of them start off beaming. The front desk picks up the phone within a ring or 2.

Room cleaners provided a total of 4 bottles of 500ml water for my roommate and me. They put a laundry bag with the charge list on my bed, presumably after seeing the little pile of dirty clothes in the corner by my bed. I was impressed because it showed they were attentive and forward thinking.

The pool has a pretty unique view of the river. Breakfast was mostly tasty and the variety was good. I absolutely love their home made ice cream, especially the Thai Tea and Vanilla. The chocolate was a bit out of my comfort zone but I think there are many others who will like it.

Staff are generally smiling and doing that Thai hand greeting thing when you walk by.

Get the room with the river view. Look at the hotel with google satellite and get the one with the best river view (center one on the thin edge of the tall wedged building probably has the best).
