I can honestly say that the 15 months of McLaren ownership has been the worst I ve experienced throughout my 37 years of driving. I purchased a year old 570 spider but after 9 months and 2000 miles later unbelievably the car developed CORROSION issues.
Not comprehending how a car of this age can have this type of problem I quickly learned that this is a wide spread one due to a poor manufacturing process with the aluminium panels reacting with their painting process.
Being a member of various McLaren forums I was surprised to speak to so many other members who have experienced the same problems over a few years so McLaren have certainly been aware of this serious manufacturing fault for a long time yet still continue to allow these cars to be sold through their dealerships with the risk of shattering ownership experiences just like it did with me.
In my 15 months only 9 were spent with my car and the other 6 my car called home M&A Coachworks in Bracknell where it took 2 attempts to be rectified, 2 new doors, new bonnet and a virtually complete repaint.

I have attached pictures of mine and a couple of friends cars corrosion so be aware any future McLaren owners that being sold a dream car may lead to frequent trips to one of Mclaren s approved bodyshops who are the only ones that can purchase the paint from McLaren which will land you with an extortionate repair bill should your car be out of warranty.
Did I expect more?........ABSOLUTELY
I love the look of McLaren cars but the prospect of another nightmare ownership far outweighs any desire to own another one.
