Wow, a great price for some really nice 7/8 thick red oak.
I needed some hardwood for a table top I was making that would go on top of a sewing machine iron base. Oaks Unlimited is an international distributor of red oak, white oak, and poplar, but they also sell lumber to locals at some really great prices. Before I found Oaks Unlimited I had shopped around and found that oak is really expensive. Oaks unlimited had a great selection of lumber at much better prices.
I have attached a snapshot of the table top I built. I used a 10" wide 7/8-inch-thick board, cut it into three pieces, and glued them up with some biscuits for added strength at the glue joints. After some light planning and sanding I Routed the edge, stained it with Minwax walnut oil-based stain. Once it had dried, I applied some linseed oil to protect the surface.
