I have been one of Rob's associates at Chaos Comma...

I have been one of Rob's associates at Chaos Commandos for nearly four years, and while I've never met Noni Thomas, who posted a review here, I am familiar with the facts surrounding her situation, given that some of my responsibilities with the company are administrative in nature.

It is apparent to us that Ms. Thomas had a change of heart and decided not to undertake the organizing project for which she had hired Chaos Commandos. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with that--sometimes prospective clients approach a project with the best intentions, but then circumstances crop up which make it difficult or impossible for them to follow through. When Rob has encountered situations like that in the past, he has always responded with compassion and understanding.

Unfortunately, we believe that in this case, the client's failure to schedule even one work session on her project, plus her lack of communication with Rob or with anyone else at the company over a six-month period--with the exception of the lone text message she sent several months after the project was expected to begin--indicate an attempt on her part to avoid honoring her contract.

Rob, for his part, had reached out via email to this client in both June and July, but he received no reply to either message.

When Rob received the text sent by this client in August, he responded via email the following business day. However, he did not receive any further communication from her until four months later, in December--with 15 days remaining on her contract--when she abruptly sent an email indicating that she wanted a refund of her non-refundable retainer, and threatening to take legal action if Rob did not come forth with it.

Ms. Thomas acknowledges that when she contacted Rob in December, he forwarded copies of the emails he had sent to her in June, July and August as verification that he had been attempting to reach her, and she acknowledges that he encouraged her to schedule some work time so that he could get her project underway, given that there were still two weeks remaining on her contract.

Her review neglects to mention, however, that he also offered to extend her contract, so long as the work were scheduled to begin prior to the expiration date. We believed that was a reasonable accommodation to make for this client, despite the fact that she waited until very late in her contract to get in touch. But it was evident from her responses that she had decided not to pursue the organizing project for which she had originally hired the company, and the sole reason she had contacted Rob was to try to get her retainer back in lieu of having the work done.

My experience with Rob is that he has always gone to great lengths to see that his clients' needs are met, even when that has meant working on a weekend or holiday, or finishing a job in a 100-degree attic in the middle of the summer, or in a below-freezing garage during the winter.

Anyone who has worked with him can vouch for his strong work ethic as well as his flexibility, honesty and integrity in dealing with clients.
