I had emergency life-saving 8 hr Type C (A + B) aortic dissection surgery just before Christmas in which I also had a vein bypass in my legs and a perioperative stroke. From my days in ICU to my January stay in the beautiful J Wing, I had excellent care! Every one who provided care from the Ambulance attendants, Emergency Staff & Physicians, the Cardiac Surgeons Dr. Cutrara & Dr Viernick & the surgical team, Neurologist Dr. Lockey, the floor nurses, the PTs & the OTs, the floor attendants, food services, the Custodial staff, and the volunteers - every member of staff was caring and professional. I appreciate everything they did to bring me back to health. I continue to receive services as an outpatient. Before my appointments, I visited my former floors or am in the cafeteria and the nurses & drs still recognize me & wish me well on my journey to health. The Trillium is a special place! Myself & my family are truly grateful for what you do 24/7/365! Every single health professional to which I've spoken highly endorses this institution for its cardiac care professionals. The length of my stay let me see the workings of the place at all hours, and I got to see all around the hospital on evening visits (wheelchair pushed by visitors, or with walker depending). My last overnight stays were when I gave birth to both of my children here, w/ last one in 2002. To compare the old wings of Trillium to the J Wing is night & day. On evening visits in Jan in the original wings, there were buckets in the halls on multiple floors because of active leaks!!! The hallways were packed with equipment, and even some patients.

Seriously MofHealth!!! Trillium Mississauga needs better modern facilities so that the professionals can just care for patients without worrying about a very old building that was stretched to its limits in peak flu season.
