I brought in a necklace that my great grandpa gave me years ago before he passed away. I didn't wear it that often because the gold/diamonds on the pendant, was to heavy for the small chain it was on (and I also don't wear necklaces as much as I do rings). I wanted the original diamonds put from the necklace into a custom ring I had designed. It was over a grand just for the labor of them putting the diamonds into a new setting. A few months later, one of the diamonds fell out. I was really disappointed because the diamonds are the only thing I have left from the necklace he gave me. So I took it in and they replaced the diamond (with who knows what kind of quality new diamond) and "checked" the other diamonds to make sure they were secure. Not even 8 days later, another diamond is gone..... I am so far beyond disappointed. If the diamonds weren't my great grandpas, or if I didn't spend over a grand for a new setting it would be a different story. But they have sentimental value, and are worth so much more to me than what they appraised my ring for. I also just moved across the U.S. and now have to face the fear of shipping my precious ring so they can put a new diamond in it that should have never fallen out in the first place (TWO DIAMONDS AGO).
