I lived at the beacon in catterick. It's a supported housing for homeless veterans. Accomodation is good. Lovely 1 bedroom apartments.the staff really let the place down! The local people donated food but the staff took what they wanted for themselves then locked the remainder in a store cupboard no residents were aloud any. Only certain residents got what they wanted. This place only worked if your face fit with staff. As a female there I didn't feel safe at all because other residents would threaten me & nothing was ever done about it. When I moved out of there I received no help unlike other residents who got everything including thier new house decorated. Thankfully I could stand on my own 2 feet. If Riverside employed better trained staff then the beacon would be brilliant. Just a shame a few members of staff let the place down and take liberties.
