A Gem of the Hill Country

A Gem of the Hill Country

Mo-Ranch Presbyterian Conference Center is near Kerrville, Texas along the Guadeloupe River. Generations of "summer campers" know about Mo, but it offers all types of retreat events for adults and children alike. My agency really likes Mo-Ranch because the center does not require a contract for overnight accommodations, which my group of 25 people have used for seven years for training and workshops. Recent capital improvements included renovation of hotel rooms that compare with well-known business hotels. I judge hotels by their bathrooms, and no exaggeration: my showerhead was better than the one I used earlier this year in one of Houston's newest luxury hotels. The ranch offers all types of accommodations either on the river or high in the hills overlooking hundreds of acres. Opened 24/7, they even have a "Polar Bear Plunge" into the river on New Year's Day that was featured in National Geographic.
Mo-Ranch Presbyterian Conference Center is a church-based retreat center but does not exclude visitors of other faiths. It's easy to reach either from state highway 27 in Kerrville to highway 39 to highway 1340 at Hunt, from Interstate 10. But choose Highway 27, which will take you to 11 scenic water crossings that follow the same route stage coaches used to take.
