Don't become a Vistana Owner--Vacation Club. I purchased a Vistana Vacation Club for 44,000 options (annually) last January which is the equivalent of 4-5 days at several home Sheraton Resorts. When I found out that Marriott and Sheraton were merging, I thought it was a good decision since I'd have more hotels/resorts. Well, I'm disappointed in the sales reps., feels, and conversions. My rep misrepresented the real amenities and cost. I'm a year in as a owner my maintenance feels are over $800 per year and when I converted my options to hotel points, I only received 68,000 points!!! Well, Category 3 i.e an Aloft, hotel is 17,500 per night! It just doesn't balance out to pay a mortgage, maintenance fees, and $145 to convert options to points per year and not be able to get 5-7 days at a Category 3! The old conversion table before the merge was 8,600 -11,000 for a Category 3 hotel. I would not recommend a becoming an owner. Save your money and book your stays as a guest. Sheraton/Marriott are more concerned with profit than providing value for their vacation owners.
