I went to Francis Lewis when it first opened in 1960. At the time, I often felt intimidated and disrespected by the administration. A very brave student named Tedi Farber wore a peace armband to school and was kicked out when she refused to take it off. They wouldn't be able to get away with that crap today. A few of us held a picket line across the street from the school defending her. I was called into the principal's office for doing that. What bullies they were back then! Andy Berman
