I have been using the portable water filter and carafe combination: The results are negative as after a few hours, the carafe has a foul smell, kind of like a fish tank. I ve been washing the carafe with hot water and soap at the end of the day but the smell still appears. My guess is the water emanating from the filter is not being cleaned properly and bacteria or other microorganisms are causing the disgusting smell. I ve notified the company by email and on their FB but received no response. The filters are expensive, too.
