Dear Freshmen,

Dear Freshmen,
I have Period Six Latin with Ms. Gutierrez. When you get accepted and have to pick a language class, AVOID LATIN WITH MERCEDES GUTIERREZ AT ALL COSTS! She speaks broken English in class but I once witnessed her talking drastically better outside of class. She lacks the motivation to teach, as she assigns us pages from the same textbook. The uniformity of her teaching is borderline depressing.
Recently, she listed the topics of a test we were slated to take. The test we took had LITTLE to do with what she told us to study. We had to translate a whole page which was a task we have never undertaken on our own by ourselves and understand questions written in Latin, all without a glossary. We normally translate three sentences at most with a glossary.
She has a classroom rule of no eating but yet she enters the class, scarfing down Arby's and teaching while chewing with her mouth open. This, along with her thick accent, makes her unable to be understood.
For tests, she has the habit of making students roll up their sleeves and show her their hands and arms to ensure no one is using a cheat sheet. It's very uncomfortable and unnecessary.
She also took a long leave of absence and immediately gave us a test, expecting us to remember what little we learned.
Dr. Marmor, please meet with Ms. Gutierrez to help her become a better teacher.
