We went to the Big Texan Wednesday night on our way home from Colorado. We were traveling in a group of 12 and called ahead to make a reservation. The gentleman who took the call assured me that we would get right in, but he did make the reservation for me anyway. When we arrived on time at 7:00pm, we were told there would be a wait. I told the hostess that we would be willing to split up because we did not have time to wait since we had a long drive back to San Antonio. I believe it was a female manager who promptly attended to us- she apologized for not looking at the book and was going to seat us in smaller groups. The girl who took us to the table took us to 3 tables for 4...we had 6 adults in our party so I told her we would need to put two chairs on one table of four. She told me that is not allowed (as it would put one chair on the end.) I told her that there had been a mix up with our reservation and that we would do what we could do so that all 6 adults were seated together. She proceeded to tell me that they do not take reservations! I told her that you absolutely did and then she got pretty ugly with me. I eat out 5-7 times a week and I have never seen someone in the dining/hospitality industry be as rude as she was. The waitress was WONDERFUL...she more than made up for the bratty young hostess. The food was good...the environment was just as expected...there was even someone attempting the 72oz challenge. All in all, it was a great experience...I would just hope that the rude girl finds herself a different kind of job. She certainly does not belong in the service industry!
