We have been on vacation with an RV in the US for several months and took the ferry to the island Sunday morning. After a long morning walk, we were looking forward to the lunch buffet in the Grand Hotel.
Unfortunately, a lady with a black hat intercepted us: Entering the property costs $ 10 for non-hotel guests. We asked if that would be offset against lunch. This was denied. Since we could hardly believe it, we asked if we had understood correctly. Yes, you have to pay for both. 2. Inquiry because we didn't think it was possible: And do you get the entrance fee offset against the cost of lunch? No! Smile.
Thank you, we have never experienced anything like this on our travels through the USA. We can understand that the big tourist masses should be prevented from streaming through the house and property, but in addition to the not very cheap but certainly great lunch, we also thought it was outrageous and we left. That's really a pity. Our first negative experience while traveling in this beautiful country.
