The Miami Association of Realtors board dues are a huge ripoff. The agents living in Kendall, Pinecrest, Aventura, Miami Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor Islands, Surfside, Miami Shores, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Hallandale, Golden Beach, etc. don't even have a board location to serve them. The executives of the MAR are constantly traveling around the world on the board member's money but can't provide a location to serve the thousands of members living in those forgotten areas. (The heads of the board are traveling for free to places like Paris, Italy, London, Dubai, Russia, throughout the U.S., etc. claiming they are building relations with those countries.)
With over 23,000 members, the board can certaintly afford to rent some office space for members to attend training and hear lectures. Where are all the millions of dollars paid annually to the board going? The lectures are almost always a waste of time, as it's a sales pitch to bring in more money for the board. I doubt the MAR pays the lecturers anything. However, the board members are charged anywhere from $15.00 to several hundred dollars per lecture. By the way, the Miami Association of Realtors was sued by the Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Jupiter Board of Realtors for dishonestly snagging away members of their boards by offering them free incentives, which the MAR members were never offered, in an effort to lure them away from their boards. I'm sure the MAR CEO's never paid out a dime of their own money for this lawsuit. It surely came out of the board member's money. And on another note, if you have any problems dealing with a dishonest Miami Association of Realtors' board member, don't expect the
board to assist you, they won't. The board personnel and realtors on the arbitration and mediation committees couldn't care less and dishonest politics are involved. It's too bad that real estate salespeople are forced by their brokers to join the board at $700.00 + dollars a year for salespeople, more for brokers. Almost every seminar and event will cost extra.
