My school requested ASL interpreters for the Music...

My school requested ASL interpreters for the Musical The Addams Family. I m a student who has a deaf parent and requested the services for my mom and a few deaf friends. There were two interpreters. With theatrical performances you must have interpreters who have been trained to do theatre interpreting. Well unfortunately LTC s ASL interpreting assigner seems to not understand what all goes into theatre interpreting. So instead of having interpreters fit for the show we got one interpreter who had just started interpreting 3 months before the show and another interpreter who s experience is limited to Legal and medical interpreting. The interpreters struggled to properly interpret jokes and dialects as well as music in full ASL. One interpreter was way too tired to do the job. In my opinion it seems that LTC hires interpreters who aren t CDI and are new. If you want professional interpreters call LUNA. But luckily there are a few interpreters for LTC that do an incredible job. Please in the future assign theatrical jobs to interpreters who have experienced doing live shows before. Thanks.
