When I first started my journey at Recovering Cham...

When I first started my journey at Recovering Champions back in February, I had been in and out of treatment multiple times and still was unable to get and stay clean. Within the first few hours of being there I had been given a feeling of hope that I had never felt before. It quickly became apparent to me that there was something different about this program. They provided a variety of different groups ranging from spirituality and relapse prevention, to art therapy and team building. I was given the opportunity to take part in activities I had never experienced such as yoga, acupuncture, and horseback riding. Recovering Champions helped me develop a better understanding of a 12 step program of my choosing and the actions I needed to take to give myself the best chance of never having to return to the life I had been living. The most beneficial part of my experience there was by far with the staff members. The majority of the staff had gone through their own journeys with addiction and recovery, and were not hesitant to share their experience, struggles, and successes. Most of them, aside from a few specific individuals, genuinely cared and were willing to do everything in their power to help in any way they could. The clinical team was understanding and willing to hear me out and accommodate the individual needs I had. They helped me with an aftercare plan that was definitely not what I wanted but what I needed and for the first time in my life, I felt like I truly had a say in my treatment. I am currently still a client at RCI on an outpatient level, and 10 months later I am still receiving the support and guidance that I received while inpatient. Recovering Champions was and still is a huge part in my journey and I will forever be grateful for this program and the people involved in it.
