Perhaps the best theater in Hamburg. The playhouse is perhaps nicer, but the program is nowhere near the Thalia. As a student, you can even sit in the front row for ten euros.
The actors do very well through the series. Pieces that I particularly recommend are Moby Dick, Cyrano de Bergerac or Die Dreigroschenoper.
