I chose to go on a pretty hot summer day. Before I even entered the gate I saw a hummingbird hanging out, an adorable ground squirrel and some baby quail. Even though they are doing construction right now, the rest of the property was quiet with easy trails. Lots of benches. Even a shady area with cool water. Be sure to ask for any sort of discounts. The website there was a discount if you have AAA, but it slipped my mind. Also, when buying my ticket I was told if I chose to become a member at the end of my visit, they would subtract that day's admission fee from the total. I didn't realize until driving home that I didn't get that reduced fee. I'm sure I would have gotten it if I remembered to ask.
