Here is a summary for those who don't have time to read everything:
Rabalais misdiagnosed my thermostat's need to be rewired, causing me to have to pay out of pocket for another company to do the job correctly.
Rabalais ordered the wrong thermostat, and then broke my expensive Lennox Thermostat by running 2x the voltage through it than it needed.
Rabalais then took the thermostat to verify this, and refused to return the broken thermostat to me or reimburse me after testing it.
The longer story:
I had Rabalais out in April because my thermostat was broken and my home warranty company had them come out. They tried to install the thermostat, but after attempting to install it, they reported back to the home warranty company that new wiring needed to be done to install the thermostat (it later turned out that this was a misdiagnosis, and they just ordered the wrong thermostat because they didn't understand the system). I had to get the thermostat fixed as I had a very pregnant wife with no A/C in the summer, and my home warranty company said they would not cover the rewiring that Rabalais said was needed, but wasn't actually needed. So I called a company to install the thermostat that specialized in Lennox. After reviewing the thermostat, the new company realized that Rabalais not only had broken the thermostat by running twice the voltage through it than they should have (24v vs. 12v), buy had also ordered the wrong thermostat (probably why they thought it needed rewiring when it didn't). It also turned out that (surprise) the system did NOT need to be rewired like Rabalais diagnosed to my home warranty company. I know this because the new A/C company was able to install a Lennox thermostat without rewiring, which would have been impossible if rewiring was actually needed to make the thermostat work.
After calling and texting the rep with Rabalais, they said that they would test the thermostat and reimburse me after testing it. They picked it up to test, but after months of no follow up and me having to repeatedly call and text, and them giving me the run around about how busy they are with other projects, they told me that "the thermostat worked fine", but that they are REFUSING to return it to me. If it worked, why would they refuse to return it? Obviously they are withholding evidence of their incompetence. This company is incompetent and dishonest!
