Due to pandemic, there are no university tours, so we are going on our own self-guided tours. No one was more excited than I was when we all packed into the van for New Haven.
But it was a letdown. First, it is very urban. You are crossing city streets to walk anywhere. In addition to that, we spent just one day there and were approached three times by panhandlers.
There are far better campuses where I am more comfortable sending my daughters. I don't think Yale was a hit with the kids either.
The architecture is beautiful and I am sure you get a great education there, but it was one of the least impressive campuses we have visited. I rank Lehigh University, Lafayette College, Swarthmore College, University of Rochester, and Villanova University as all better campuses than Yale. Swarthmore and Lehigh would be my top two picks in terms of student-friendy campuses.
