Thanks for your time Mike and Tom. What I learned was my gas fire place that did not work was letting so much cold air into my house and that was why it always felt cold in that room. It was an easy fix, plug the chimney and the the intake vent and remove the 25 year old gas fire place insert and put a fun picture in front of the opening and now that room is warm like the rest of the house.
