This is the first time I have ever had to apply for any assistance, and I was hesitant to do it at all. I understand that with all the budget cuts the State has been forced to process claims with a reduced workforce, and with the current situation it is even more difficult. I was let go from work on the 9th and started this process on the 14th of May. I submitted all the necessary documents and to date I have not received any benefits. I have made repeated attempts to obtain information on the benefit amount as it has a direct impact on my application for medical insurance. I was given a deadline of today to provide the information to Covered CA, however I have not been successful in reaching a representative to provide me with the information. The state can and should request that any retired former employee be given the opportunity to return on a part time basis to assist with the influx of UI and SDI claims, this is not a difficult thing to do, since we are in an emergency situation it would provide those of us requesting information to communicate with an individual that can assist.
