A peaceful retreat from the rush and traffic of urban life. Bring bug spray, especially during rainy seasons! Admission is free, but they do appreciate donations. The visitor center has a fantastic children's area, and there is a nice sand play area right outside. Inner Loop Trail is just right for grade school kids. In some seasons, the paths may not be passable for strollers, so make sure to bring a baby carrier or be prepared to lug your toddler in your arms! My kids love climbing on dead logs, watching wildlife (birds, lizards, and the like), and being noisy without someone shushing them all the time.
