Sharp Propane is deplorable.

Sharp Propane is deplorable. I bought a property that came with a propane tank and called them to discuss taking up the prior owner's contract. I very quickly decided not to use them based on a terrible impression the woman who spoke with me made during the 7 minute call. I specifically asked her if they were the only game in town, and whether I had to use that company and she said no. I told them I would not be contracting with them, but the woman for some reason allegedly did not note the account. (I have a record of that call and I later told them I would send it to them but they did not seem to want it). The property is rarely used as it's a vacation home and had a full tank so I was in no hurry to find a new company, knowing I had plenty of time.

Four months later, they showed up unexpectedly while I was not at the property and filled the tank to the tune of almost $1,000k with no contract with me and with me and no permission to enter my property. Left a bill at the back door in the name of the prior owner (because, of course, I had signed no contract). Rather than just ignoring the bill, I called them to let them know of their error. I spoke with Rena White who told me she is a "supervisor," and she made clear to me I had 3 options. I could get another company to swap their tank with me if the other company would agree (and that depended on the quality of the tank over which I had no control AND I would still have to pay for the unauthrized gas delivery), or Sharp would go dig up my tank and shut off my gas which means no heat (in 28 degree weather) and sure damage to my property unless I paid the bill and signed a contract with them. All happening in freezing weather while I was hours away from the property during a huge snowstorm. NONE of which was disclosed to me four months before. So it appears the game was "forget" to note the account, fill the tank without permission and without a contract, then corner me into bad options at a really bad time, only to finally try to strongarm me into continuing to use them. All because they claim had no "record" of my call four months before - because they did not make a record of it. I made them give me a date by which I needed to find another company because the call was recorded and I had a feeling they might try to cut my heat as threatened very quickly, and SHAGRIN GAS took care of everything for me with a swap and with a customer-oriented approach.

DO NOT USE Sharp Propane. Rena White is obnoxious, and was unprofessionally unwilling to accept her company's "mistakes" or even see the proof of my call four months before. She refused to give me contact information for upper management for a complaint. Awful company.
