The merchandise and sales in Stein Mart are both fantastic. However the lighting and setup is so dull.

I kept thinking "why don't I ever shop here?"

But then I felt forced to make myself take a lap and as I walked towards the door to leave I realized it was the setup.

Its unfortunate because essentially it's a TJ Maxx; both stylish and reasonably priced, yet I don't feel compelled to buy anything.

After returning home I asked my husband (more of shopper than I) who stayed behind, "why don't we ever go to Stein Mart?"

He said, "I hate the way it's set up, I can't bring myself to look at things."

Maybe it's just us, but if you're looking for advice on picking up sales, try an uplift. Contact me if you want my opinion.

Otherwise...lift the ceiling, get brighter lights, and pop out a few items.
