Cherie Garza Review of Drury Lane Theatre

I have been to Drury Lane countless times but as they have just recently proved themselves to have absolutely no integrity or concern for the customers, they have lost my business. If you haven't heard of the whole Joseph fiasco, there are countless other reviews that can tell you about the show. Whether someone liked the show or not is completely irrelevant. The fact is this: Drury Lane advertised that they were putting on a classic Broadway musical- one that is widely known to be a family show. They really put on a modern "twist" that was not intended for children at all but made no announcement of this anywhere. Their own sales director admitted to me on the phone that the director of the show didn't want anyone to know that this wasn't the original Joseph before opening night. When customers who brought children, school groups, church groups, etc were obviously upset, Drury Lane's answer was to dig their heels in the ground, offer no compensation (not even tickets to a different show), and then change the description on the website (multiple times) to cover their tracks. They could care less about their customers. Only their money. They even changed their recommended age for the show! When I called, after seeing an added line about sexual content that was not on the website when I made my purchase, I was told the show was not recommended for anyone under 13, even though this was listed nowhere. However, the show had been previously recommended for ages 5+ on the website! That information had since come down, the sexual content warning was added, and no new age was listed.
They just kept changing their story to figure out how to keep themselves out of legal trouble. Thankfully, my credit card disputed the claim and won. As for the theater, their lack of business ethics, honesty, or integrity is a true shame. If you do not take care of your customers, you will soon find yourself with no customers left.
